This Wednesday, sources from the Morena parliamentary group confirmed to LPO that legislative procedures have been initiated for four deputies, who were counted as members of the Green Party (PVEM), to return to Morena. In this way, the 'toucan' party will fall from its current 11 seats to eight, which will allow it to remain the third minority behind Morena and the PAN. At its core, this demonstrates that the maneuver led by Morena to count its ally is more symbolic and political than practical, because the Green Party, for now, will not lose power or attributions in Congress. Once the Green Party loses these four members, it will gain Paula Pérez Córdova, who remains in Morena but is a member of the Green Party. To understand the maneuver, one must go back to the beginning of the current Legislature, when the Electoral Institute of the capital approved a change in the distribution of the parliamentary groups that allowed to increase the representation of the three allied parties of the Fourth Transformation (4T), something that the opposition denounced as 'overrepresentation'. At that time, the electoral authorities endorsed the presentations made by some figures from Morena, who demanded to be counted as members of the Green Party and not of the 'morado' (purple) party. This enabled the 4T to have more seats, which, after a series of agreements and arrivals to the officialism, allowed it to achieve the absolute majority that the head of government, Clara Brugada, now has. However, these agreements seem to be coming to an end. In this way, these figures will return to the 'morado' party and abandon the ranks of the 'toucan'. After not appearing, Tabe sought a working table with Donceles, but Morena rejected it. According to official sources in the local Congress, this move has been on the table for several months as tensions grow between Morena and the Green Party. One of the explanations that appear among different members of Congress to explain this change is the 'toucan's' refusal to vote in favor of a point of agreement to investigate possible links between the violent mobilization of Generation Z and the president of the PRI, Alito Moreno, whom the 4T accuses of having provided funding to generate clashes with security forces. These changes threaten to generate an impact within the 4T, but not so much in the day-to-day of Donceles. 'If we really wanted to harm them, we would give those four deputies to the Parliamentary Progressive Association of Transformation and they would become the fourth parliamentary group,' a Morena deputy explained to LPO. With this scenario, tensions within the 4T between its two most important parties are intensifying. This adds to the threats made by the ecologist force to break the alliance and compete alone in the 2027 elections, where the Legislative Power and the 16 mayoralties of the capital will be renewed. Likewise, they deepened this Wednesday after Morena advanced with a legislative procedure to withdraw four members from its ecological ally's bench, who will thus return to the 'morado' party. However, as detailed by LPO, they returned on Tuesday during a regular session at the Congress of Mexico City. This is replicated in other regions of the country, such as Tamaulipas, Quintana Roo, Guerrero, and Zacatecas, among others. In recent weeks, tensions between the different allies within the 4T have eased. They are: Israel Moreno, Juan Rubio Gualito, Víctor Varela, and Iliana Ivon Sánchez Chávez. 'It's a political gesture,' explained a person involved in these changes that will happen in the coming hours at the Palace of Donceles. However, it was not taken until now.
